New Discovery of Witches trailer
While impatiently counting down the days until the September 18th release of Deborah Harkness's latest addition to the All Souls' world, Time's Convert, I was thrilled to see a new trailer for the upcoming A Discovery of Witches tv series. The trailer and an article are here on ew.com (and many other places). I hope they find a distributor for the U.S. soon.
The one thing I don't understand is why they cast Lindsay Duncan as Ysabeau de Clermont. Not that I have anything against Lindsay herself -- she is beautiful and a fine actress -- but in the story, it continually stresses how young (and overwhelmingly beautiful) Matthew's vampire mother is. She's supposed to be very close in age to Matthew and Diana.
I'm sure there will be other changes to the book. (For instance, giving Peter, Satu, and Gillian more screen time.) And some are probably needed to help the page translate to the screen. I know I'll enjoy it, it's just that I don't see why there was a need to change Ysabeau. Regardless, the fall can't come soon enough for me. (I'll be planning an all-nighter when Time's Convert downloads on my Kindle. And perhaps I'll just have to relocate to London to see the series.)
