March is National Reading Month

Because literacy is so important, I wanted to share information about this important challenge during National Reading Month. 

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) has launched a program during March to coincide with National Reading Month.  According to this press release, "This multi-tiered campaign encourages students across the United States to read a collective one million books during National Reading Month. A cornerstone of RIF’s efforts is Million Book March which features an interactive online book counter and daily readerboard, a full complement of customizable online materials for download, and a special curated collection of books and free literacy tools, including games, activities, and videos. Also launching as part of National Reading Month is RIF’s new Literacy Central App, a one-stop mobile reading support for students, educators and parents, created with the generous support of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation."

It sounds like RIF has developed some amazing tools and activities to inspire young readers. If you have young children or know of teachers or others who might like to participate, be sure to check out the linked press release.
